Just released for sale, this MTD was on hold for a good customer of ours. Unfortunately, he is not in a position to follow through on the purchase.
That's good news for someone looking for a one of a kind 535. It features a Cocobolo top that was being saved by a cabinet maker. Mike happened to get offered this amazing stash of 40 year old wood and we were in the right place at the right time to secure this amazing top.
Spec's are: Cocobolo top, fingerboard, trussrod cover, headstock veneer and control knobs. Toasted Ash body, Maple neck, 24 frets. Weighing in at a very comfortable 4.4 kg/ 9.68 lbs.
Priced at $6375 US and includes a MTD hardshell case. Shipping, if required, and sales tax will be added to the converted Cdn price.
Chancy's take on this MTD: The Cocobolo on this bass is spectacular. It's amazing just how much figuring is in the top. Equal to the looks, this is one seriously good sounding bass. The Youtube video reveals just how well it records. Mike told us the Cocobolo f/b would be very close in tone to a Brazilian board and it certainly does have the warmth and articulation one comes to appreciate of a good BRW f/b. And, it was the last of Mike's Cocobolo f/b stock.
This stacks up as one of the best, if not the best 535 to grace the shop.
Please note: Delivered in 2016, prior to CITES going into effect. However, we are not able to provide documentation to ship this bass outside of Canada.
